Sepia tone reproduction from graphite rendering

In 1792, William Montgomery built this mansion at the corner of Mill and Bloom Streets.  His gristmill and sawmill were located to the west.

Also that same year, Montgomery’s son, Daniel, developed a nearby tract of land that eventually was called “Dan’s Town.”  “Dan’s village would soon be large enough to warrant a post office and become officially known as Danville.”[1]
